ROUTINE ORAL EXAM

A routine oral exam is a regular check-up to maintain your oral health. During the visit, Dr. Tara Brindis and Simone will examine your teeth, gums, and mouth for any issues. The exam includes checking for cavities, measuring gum health, taking X-rays to spot hidden problems, and doing a professional cleaning to remove plaque and tartar. They may also check for signs of oral cancer, assess your bite, and offer tips on oral hygiene. Regular exams help catch problems early and keep your smile healthy. It’s usually recommended every six months, but the timing may vary depending on your needs.

Dental Hygiene Care

Dental hygiene care is an essential aspect of maintaining optimal oral health. It encompasses a range of practices that individuals should incorporate into their daily routines. Brushing teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste helps remove plaque and prevent cavities. Flossing at least once daily removes food particles and plaque between teeth and along the gumline, preventing gum disease. Regular dental check-ups and cleanings, typically every six months, allow dental professionals to assess oral health, identify potential issues early on, and provide professional cleanings to remove stubborn plaque and tartar. Additionally, adopting a balanced diet and minimizing sugary or acidic foods and drinks can contribute to better dental health. By following a comprehensive dental hygiene care routine, individuals can maintain healthy teeth and gums, preventing dental problems and ensuring a confident and radiant smile.

ORAL CANCER SCREENING

Oral cancer screening is a preventive dental examination aimed at detecting early signs of oral cancer or precancerous conditions in the mouth. During an oral cancer screening, Dr Brindis will carefully examine the oral cavity, including the lips, gums, tongue, cheeks, and throat, for any abnormalities or suspicious lesions. The screening may involve a visual inspection, palpation, and

additional diagnostic tests, such as tissue biopsies or the use of specialized screening devices. Early detection of oral cancer is crucial as it increases the chances of successful treatment and improved outcomes. Regular oral cancer screenings are particularly important for individuals who have risk factors such as tobacco use, excessive alcohol consumption, a history of oral cancer, prolonged sun exposure, or a family history of cancer.

Mouth AND NIGHT GUARDS

Mouth guards serve different purposes depending on the situation. In sports, they are commonly used to shield the teeth, gums, and jaw from impacts and collisions that can cause dental trauma. They help prevent chipped or broken teeth, lip and cheek injuries, and even concussions.

Custom-made night guards are designed to protect teeth from damage caused by clenching or grinding (bruxism) during sleep, fitting precisely to your unique bite and jaw structure.
